Everyday Tools for Everyday Presence
Podcast Shownotes:
In this episode of Energy Works, Lauren and Blaine take a clear-eyed look at what presence requires and why it’s easy to lose track of.
They discuss the everyday ways attention drifts, such as scrolling while eating or mentally checking out while doing chores. They also cover the energetic toll of constant multitasking and why refocusing your attention on the body is essential. Drawing from the Yoga Sutras, mindfulness, and Energy Medicine tools, they offer accessible ways to stay connected in real time.
Topics include:
• Why the mind is an unreliable narrator
• The first two Yoga Sutras and their relevance to presence
• How multitasking drains energy and dulls joy
• The effects of eating, working, and scrolling all at once
• What it feels like to be in the moment, and why it’s rare
• How breath can shift your state quickly
• Using tapping to return to the body
• Personal examples of remembering (and forgetting) to be present
• Why your attention matters, and how to reclaim it
Press play if you’ve been feeling scattered, stretched, or stuck in your head. This one’s a love letter to the now.

This post really spoke to me especially the part about being present in small, everyday moments. It reminded me of when I started working on a story I tell my daughter at bedtime. I wanted to turn it into a book but didn’t know how, so I looked into a children book ghost writing service. Funny how being present helped me realize the value of that little story. Thanks for the insight!
